Strengthening International Labor Standards in Selected Developing Member Countries (DMCs). Philippine Country Study - Gender Component of the ILO-ADB Regional Technical Assistance (RETA)

The gender component of the ILO-ADB RETA required the preparation of a country report on gender equality and decent work for women in the Philippines. The study undertook the following:

  • compared situation of men and women in the labor market in both the formal and informal sectors;
  • examined the socioeconomic impacts of gender discrimination on economic growth, poverty reduction, and social development;
  • reviewed the national legislation relevant to women’s employment and position in the labor market; and
  • collected examples of good practices for addressing gender discrimination in employment and occupations.
