Reciprocity in the Lowland Philippines

Fifteen randomly selected household heads, male and female, were interviewed in depth regarding reciprocal relations in the following areas:

  • baptism, marriage, and death;
  • schooling;
  • medical and legal assistance;
  • support rendered nonhousehold members;
  • employment assistance;
  • credit;
  • borrowing and lending material goods other than money;
  • politics;
  • fishing partnership;
  • cooperative work activities for the benefit of specific households; and
  • community projects.
