JJCICSI-IPC Round Table Discussion on Public Engagement of Catholic Bishops of the Philippines on Issues of the Environment, the Family, and Corruption

The roundtable discussion began with a paper presentation by JJCICSI research fellow Miguel Paolo A. Rivera, based on data gathered in the course of a study entitled “Knowledge Needs, Acquisition, and Use among the Catholic Bishops of the Philippines,” conducted by IPC and JJCICSI from March 2014 to March 2015. The paper discussed patterns in the political engagement of the bishop respondents in this study who prioritized three categories of issues—corruption, the environment, and the family—on three levels of the public sphere: the state (the national and local governments), political society (the legislature and political parties), and civil society (including Church-based groups).
