Developing the e-Health TABLET (Technology Assisted Boards for LGU Efficiency and Transparency) Prototype: A Bottom up Approach to the Development of an Electronic Tablet-based Health Information System Integrative Approach

The project aims to pilot the development and use of a local mobile (tablet-based) electronic patient record system and health dashboard in selected municipalities in the Philippines.Essentially, the project proposes an innovative solution for the country’s health information management problem by developing a mobile patient record system with dashboard output and a doctor-mayor communication system. The project site selection process was based on the recommendations of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) in support of their strategic area development approach for program development. These include the following LGUs: Basco, Batanes; Sta. Rita, Pampanga; Gerona, Tarlac; Guimba, Nueva Ecija; Bangui, Ilocos Norte; Anilao, Iloilo; San Jose de Buenavista, Antique; Alcoy, Cebu; Dumalinao, Zamboanga Del Sur; Veruela, Agusan Del Sur and Isulan Sultan Kudarat. For the project's methodology, the study will conduct a survey on technology acceptance to determine the drivers and barriers to the use of HIS, time and motion study protocol for observation of the health workers' work routine, and focus group discussions and key-informant with the project's intended users.
