Child Friendly Cities and Urban Poor Settlements: Views from the Community

This participatory research was designed to generate a sensitive profile of urban poor children and youth in Cebu, Davao, Manila, Pasay, and Quezon Cities, seen largely from their perspectives as residents of urban poor communities. The results were expected to enrich the programs and policies of the five cities collaborating with the United Nations Children’s Fund on Child Friendly Cities initiatives. The research was also intended to inform local community organizations about the needs of their children and youth, and lead to community action with people’s involvement.
