Capacity Building for Social and Environmental Assessments

This project sought to strengthen the capacity of government implementing and oversight agencies and project staff, universities and colleges, nongovernment organizations, and people’s organizations to carry out social and environmental assessments, and prepare resettlement action plans, where called for, along with indigenous people’s action plans. It involved three major phases:

  • development of a resource guide or inventory, training needs assessment, and an assessment of the project review process of the National Economic and Development Authority in social and environmental terms;
  • development of training program and modules; and
  • conduct of training sessions.
