Last September 20, 2016, research associates and assistants from the Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC) attended a training seminar on the basics of the Health Research and Development Information Network (HERDIN) database.

Personnel from the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), namely Ms Kristine Dominique Zamora and Ms Joana America, trained the IPC staff on how to register their health research projects to HERDIN, among other activities.

HERDIN is considered as the national health research repository of the Philippines, providing access to both published and unpublished health-related researches in the country. The HERDIN database is currently being maintained by PCHRD – Department of Science and Technology.

IPC participated in the HERDIN seminar in part of their efforts to  help in the cultivation of health research in the Philippines, and to strengthen its collaboration with the PCHRD. Through this seminar, the Institute of Philippine Culture formally inked its partnership with HERDIN. With this partnership, a node for the IPC will be created in the HERDIN database.

The seminar participants already encoded several IPC health studies to HERDIN, and more of IPC’s health-related research projects can be expected in the HERDIN database in the months to come.
